Hey team,
My apologies for being blog MIA, but I'm back with a vengeance. I think as things continue to happen in the bar (kudos to Mary for shaking things up and getting some great beer flowing) I think this blog will be more important than ever for communication. So without further ado.....
Oranges - A note to openers, we may need to up the par on oranges. The way Blue Moon is already flowing out of the taps the orange usage is slightly bonkers, so keep an eye out and update the par sheet to how much you think it needs increased, if at all.
Beer, beer, beer - As for the titularly (yeah, I went there) mentioned spreadsheets, I am constructing a beer Excel sheet that will hopefully keep everything up to date on what we actually have on tap and chilled in bottle form. I will be putting it on the Desktop of the computer at the bar. It's called, rather creatively, Village Beers. Since the servers check the computer with the same OCD intensity of chronically ill mental patients, I am hoping that having this information in the same place will be 1) easy to keep updated and 2) readily available for all to see. It includes the name, style, ABV %, proper glassware, brewery location and even notes about garnishing. I'm trying to make it one-stop shopping to answer, "What the hell do we have on tap today?" There is a separate bottle page which includes what is on the menu and what is on closeout. There is a column next to closeouts for how many are left of each, which I will count tonight. Hopefully we can keep this relatively up to date as well.
Please feel free to tinker with/improve the beer spreadsheet. It's meant to be an open source document, not my personal page. Let me know if you have any questions about the methods to my madness or how to do fun equations in Excel like how I saved myself the effort of typing in "tulip" or "pint" by using the =IF formula. Nerds unite.
And seriously, if you haven't actually seen the video yet, you haven't really heard Party All the Time.
Brian, as a formerly cranky person, your spreadsheet has cheered me up immensely. Fun fact: it's not just the Internet I love. It's technology. If I weren't a bio major, I'd totally be a comp sci major. ♥ spreadsheets.
